The Queens Medical Associates P.C. (QMA), a medical group that specializes in oncology and hematology, has opened a new 15,000 square-foot facility in Fresh Meadows.
The facility, located at 176-60 Union Turnpike, will serve as the group’s main office for three satellite facilities - in Jackson Heights, Forest Hills and Flushing. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.
With 12 new exam rooms, a larger waiting area with flat-panel TVs, and a chemotherapy treatment center designed by architect Ray Caliendo and currently equipped with 27 chairs, three hospital beds, and five oncology-certified nurses, QMA’s new office offers a state-of-the art space for on-site chemotherapy treatments, said Dr. Barry H. Kaplan, MD, Ph.D., the President and Medical Director of the QMA.
The new facility will also offer infusion treatments, clinical trials and translation services in Spanish, Russian, and Chinese.
At the ribbon cutting for the new facility on Thursday, February 8, Kaplan also unveiled the organization’s new website: www.qmamedical.com.
On hand for the event were Councilmember James Gennaro and David Golub, the Regional Vice President for the American Cancer Society, both of whom helped to cut the opening ribbon with QMA’s five physicians - Dr. Barry H. Kaplan, Dr. Javier A. Roca, Dr. Malvina Fulman, Dr. Lihong Wei and Dr. Robert D. Lewis.
“The American Cancer Society congratulates Queens Medical Associates on their new facility. With Queens Medical Associates, we share a commitment to quality and compassionate care,” stated Keith Hudson, a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society.
“The American Cancer Society looks forward to a lasting partnership with Queens Medical Associates to continue bringing cancer-fighting services to the Queens community,” Hudson added.
