Asian Banking Center to open in Flushing

Flushing Savings Bank will open a new branch - an Asian Banking Center - on Friday, March 2 in Flushing at 136-41 Roosevelt Avenue. The new bank will bring the total of Flushing Savings Bank’s branches to 14 in the metropolitan area.
“Working in conjunction with our new Asian Advisory Board, we developed this new Banking Center to further enhance our commitment to serve the multi-cultural market area of Northern Queens,” said John R. Buran, Flushing Financial’s President and CEO. Flushing Financial is the parent company of Flushing Savings Bank.
The Asian banking center will be open and provide full services seven days per week - Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., with late banking hours on Thursdays until 7 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The three-story branch will be staffed with employees who speak Chinese, Korean, and Spanish, and the bank hopes to have Hindi translators available soon.
“By providing excellent in-languages services and branch representatives from the local area, our goal is to enhance our relationship with the consumers and businesses in one of the most diverse areas of the country,” Buran said. “Additionally, it is our objective to offer a full spectrum of financial services to these customers so that we can help them establish their new roots and fulfill their dreams.”
The Bank will offer a variety of services and special offers to its customers, including 4.00 percent Annual Percentage Yield (APY) Interest Checking Free for Life, a free iPod Shuffle with $5,000 deposit, a 5.55 percent APY CD for three months, a 5.25 percent APY Money Market Account, and a free $10 MetroCard with any deposit. In addition, the bank will give away a $1,500 Amex Gift Card during the grand opening festivities on Friday, March 2 from 10 to 11 a.m.
