Is your musical act in need of a gig?
Are your poems “yearning to breathe free” as Emma Lazarus once wrote?
The Flushing Town Hall is calling for your talents to take the stage at their third annual Other Words/Other Worlds: Jazz and Poetry Marathon along with the acclaimed lineup of poets and musicians already slated to perform in celebrating the two art forms.
The Matt Jensen Trio will play with percussionist, Jose Claussell.
There will be Tea with Daniel Thomas Moran, Poet Laureate of Suffolk County and author of six volumes of poetry.
Karen Gibson Roc will preside over a Teen Poetry Slam Workshop.
A Jam Session with Aziza Miller and her self-styled “Jazz-Souletry” will feature members from the Flushing High School Jazz Band and selected student poets.
Blues musician Frank Fields, The Poets Circle Members and many others will also perform.
The 12-hour gala will take place Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for no charge at The Flushing Town Hall.
