The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island will hold its 13th annual Sports Festival on Saturday, June 2 at Cantiague Park in Hicksville, Long Island.
The event will feature softball and volleyball tournaments; a walk-a-thon for people of all ages; miniature golf; inflatable bounce areas; face painting; and musical entertainment throughout the day provided by WKJY 98.3 FM and 101.1 JACK FM. In addition, there will be barbecued food, refreshments, raffles and a Silent Auction.
Ronald McDonald will spend the day at the Festival, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and wind down at 4 p.m.
“I’m looking forward to a great day … great sports, kids’ activities and camaraderie,” said Robert Weitzner, Executive Director of The House. “I hope you will join us to make it even more memorable.”
Traditionally, the 1.5-mile walk-a-thon attracts more than 100 participants.
All Sports Festival participants will receive free T-shirts and lunch, and prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers.
All money raised will benefit The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, a ‘home-away-from home’ for families caring for seriously ill children. The House provides accommodations for family members, so that they can be closer to the hospital where the children are being treated.
