Skyline Commons approved by Department of Health

The continuing care retirement community Skyline Commons has been approved for their Certificate of Authority by the New York Department of Health, which means future residents can prepare to reserve apartments.
Located at 82-15 Parsons Boulevard in Jamaica, Skyline Commons, a not-for-profit, will have 143 apartments. According to its website, as a continuing care retirement community, it “provides residents with the privacy of their own maintenance-free apartment, a community of friends, a vast array of services, an extensive calendar of social, cultural and recreational activities, and the freedom to enjoy retirement. A special benefit is having access to a full continuum of on-site, long-term health care should your needs change.”
Skyline Commons will offer many amenities to its residents, such as dining, a state-of-the-art fitness center, day spa, salon, convenience shop, performance theatre, library and computer/business center. Among the services included in the monthly service fee are 30 meals each month, bi-weekly house keeping, weekly linen service, scheduled transportation, emergency response system, 24-hour security and concierge/valet.
The facility is being sponsored by Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Seniors 62 and older can now “place their 10 percent deposit, sign their Residence and Care Agreement and qualify both medically and financially” for the apartments. The deposit is fully refundable.
“Not only are future residents of Skyline Commons securing an ideal retirement lifestyle, they are preserving their assets against high cost of future long-term care,” said Margaret Tietz Executive Director Gerald Hart. “Unique to the State of New York, as an Article 46 Continuing Care Retirement Community, Skyline Commons must honor the contracted long-term care obligations of depositors once they have been accepted as future residents. Even if a future resident’s health care needs change prior to moving in to Skyline Commons, he or she is guaranteed entrance at the appropriate level of care.”
