Ray Mota of the Laborer’s Union tends a large inflatable rat balloon outside the office of Bell Park Gardens on Springfield Boulevard in Oakland Gardens, where an asbestos abatement project is about to begin. The union says the contractor has a bad track environmental track record. An attorney for the co-op insists the contractor is fully licensed, and everything is squeaky-clean. Mota is a big Met fan, in fact his cousin Guillermo pitches for them. Ray is pitching to local residents to tell their management to hire a union asbestos removal firm.
