Whitestone’s own Dwarf-Giraffe Athletic League opened their 2007-2008 Basketball Season recently with some great games played. The league promotes team effort, and a highlight of the Boys Major Division came from the “Cascarinos” team, in a game where seven of their eight players scored.
They still acknowledge superior individual achievement, noting that Jeffrey Johnston, playing for the Patriot Waste team, led all players with 30 points.
The non-profit, non-sectarian league is for boys and girls and has competition in several sports. They are headquartered at their gym building at 149-50 15th Road in Whitestone, where they welcome new players, parent volunteers and sponsors.
Since they have their own building, they’re able to host a wide array of events for the leagues and the community. Contact them at 718-746-1539.
