Kids Time Therapies
Expert assistance for special needs children

Special needs children and their parents find solutions, resources and individualized treatment plans at newly opened Kids Time Therapies in Woodside.
Dr. James Bianco, a chiropractor, and Anatoly Spektor, an occupational therapist, co-founders of the facility, started the community-based center for therapies to offer new direction for frustrated parents and their special needs children, giving a vastly underserved population new hope.
“Sometimes parents don’t realize there is a problem,” Spektor said, “until the child is a little older. You begin to see differences at about 18 months. The window of opportunity is not so wide.”
Spektor said the center’s focus is to offer thorough evaluations and treatment of a broad range of neurological, developmental and physical disorders with treatments performed by licensed professional therapists. The center serves children in all five boroughs, from newborn to school age, including young adults up to 21.
“Our treatment depends on the needs of the child. We’re working with every aspect of the child’s development,” he said. Kids Time Therapies offers services to children with special needs and their families that will facilitate development and enhance the skills they need to foster relationships and live productively.
Included in the range of developmental disorders being evaluated and treated at the Woodside facility are neurological conditions, attention deficit or hyperactivity disorders, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, speech and auditory delays and others. Among the therapeutic programs offered are sensory integrated therapy, occupational and physical therapy, speech therapy, and counseling services.
Children receive enrichment assistance through handwriting programs, therapeutic arts and crafts groups, socialization groups, fine motor programs, language and yoga classes. Groups are small - five to six kids - and meet once a week for 45 minutes.
Additionally, parents receive the same nurturing support. “We have a totally holistic approach,” Spektor said, noting that parents are connected so that they can find a supportive community just like their children are receiving.
Small changes often mean a dramatic difference for children and their families, he added.
Kids Time Therapies accepts most forms of insurance and works with families to help them find the means to obtain services; many clients are referred by the NY City Department of Education.
The center is located at 42-77 65th Place in Woodside. Center hours are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. For more information, call 718-429-2000 or log onto www.kidstimetherapies.com.
