Towers Residents Visited Holocaust Memorial And Tolerance Center

Residents of North Shore Towers went on a special trip to the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County last month where they were went on tour and saw a special program.
The visit was a follow-up to the center’s presentation of “Freedom Writers” at the Towers Cinema last July.
The event at the Glen Cove center featured presentations by Holocaust survivors, Eddie Weinstein, who was in the Treblinka Death Camp and showed his home-made documentary film. North Shore Towers Board of Directors member Herb Cooper and Anita Weisbrod also made comments during the presentation.
In order to give residents a better idea of the work that the center does, Dr. Regina White, formerly the center’s education director described their tolerance education program. Residents also participated in an interactive activity that was similar to the tolerance workshops that the center has for students.
The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County is located at 100 Crescent Beach Road on the Welwyn Preserve in Glen Cove. Its hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
