Award-winning Discovery

Holy Cross High School in Flushing was recently notified that its literary magazine, Discovery 2007, was awarded first place by the American Scholastic Press Association.
According to faculty advisor Michele Daus (shown holding the award), “Discovery consists entirely of student work - short essays, poems and illustrations. (It) allows our young men the chance to publicly share their literary and artistic talents and see their work in print.”
Enjoying their moment, before possibly going on to a Pulitzer Prize are (from left) Max Vetrano, Chris Temperini, Chris Engelmann and Scott Cermak.
President of the school, Brother Stephen LaMendola (right) looks as if he’s risking the sin of pride as he smiles broadly.
