Since he will probably not be able to attend civic meetings on a regular basis, he reminded everyone that the monthly Precinct 105 Community Council meeting the last Wednesday of the month at 8 p.m., weather permitting, should be a primary way for everyone to keep in close touch. Although he hopes attendees and others will promptly inform him, Community Affairs personnel or other 105th officers about pertinent problems and praises, he warns against discussing potentially dangerous situations in the presence of the public. You never know who might be in the audience.Since loud noise is high on the list of complaints, if party ads or other evidence of potentially noisy activity is suspected, D.I. Piekarski asks that it be reported to the police sooner rather than later, so that any problems can be prevented by early, less formal intervention.D.I. Piekarski plans to have three community police officers available – one for the north, one for the middle, and one for the south end of the precinct. We are all hoping that the expanded task force in Rosedale will continue to help drop the response time and increase the presence of police.Another community concern has been, and continues to be, illegal parking, especially of large trucks. Many of these trucks have been and will continue to be “booted” (a process of attaching a device that prevents the driver from moving the vehicle without paying a fine to have the “boot” removed). One problem with that is that many drivers are undaunted when faced with payment of the fine. Another problem is that at this time, our precinct has only three boots and very many illegally parked large trucks.Suspected illegal club activity was also discussed, as were a number of other subject some, or all of these topics, will possibly be discussed at a proposed town hall meeting sponsored jointly by the community councils of Precincts 103, 105 and 113. The date is Wednesday, March 12, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The location will be Thomasima's at 205-35 Linden Blvd., St. Albans.
