City Councilmember James F. Gennaro (left) is all smiles after a film he appears in won the “Documentary Audience Award” at the Sundance Film Festival recently.
“Fields of Fuel” by filmmaker Josh Tickell (center) also stars Julia Roberts and Woody Harrelson, and views the causes and possible solutions to U.S. dependency on foreign oil.
Dana Williams (right), mayor of Park City, Utah congratulates Tickell and Gennaro during the ceremonies, which ran from January 17-27 in his town.
Gennaro was filmed at the Queens Botanical Garden, discussing the use of “biofuel” in heating oil, mandated in a bill he has introduced in the council. Like “bio diesel” and ethanol, “biofuel” is derived from a renewable resource, spares petroleum and limits greenhouse gases.
The film will be shown at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in Manhattan.
