Caitlyn Kakavas buried three free throws with one second remaining in the fourth quarter to lift St. Agnes to a thrilling 50-49 upset victory over second-seeded Fontbonne Hall Academy in a CHSAA Brooklyn/Queens Division II quarterfinal game Tuesday night.
Led by Kakavas, who scored 12 points, St. Agnes rallied from a seven-point deficit with less than two minutes left. Senior Heather Laut had nine points and junior Chelsea Loscalzo added 18 points for the seventh-seeded Blue Angels, who take on No. 5 Bishop Loughlin in a semifinal game Thursday night.
