Police said Brooklyn resident Antonio Narainasami was leaving Shea following the New York Mets' 6-0 victory over the Washington Nationals when he lost his footing on an escalator headed down from the stadium's mezzanine level and plunged more than 40 feet to the concrete floor below.
Narainasami was rushed to New York Hospital Queens, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police said they are investigating the death as an accident and do not believe Narainasami was intoxicated at the time of the fall.
