16th annual Gay Pride festival

The 16th Annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Festival in Queens will be held on Sunday, June 1 in Jackson Heights and will be headlined by original Village People member Randy Jones.
Jones, who is an American Music Award winner, was the cowboy in the Village People.
“The Pride Festival’s show has become a huge event attended by thousands of people from throughout the tri-state metropolitan area,” said festival founder Daniel Dromm. “It’s really very exciting to have Mr. Jones perform on our stage. I’m sure everyone will have a ‘gay’ time.”
The theme of this year’s festival is “Live, Love, Be.” The grand marshals will be Assemblymember Jose Peralta, Councilmember Rosie Mendez, and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Services Center Executive Director Richard Burns.
The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 37th Road from 73rd Street to 77th Street in Jackson Heights.
There will be a parade at noon running down 37th Avenue from 89th Street to 75th Street.
Along with Jones, the festival’s show will include appearances by AmerRose Marie, Shiko Aviance, Anthony Rodriguez, and Lovari. It will be hosted by Jiggly Caliente, Jeannie Sol and Kate Riggstage.
“We have a great roster of stars for this year’s show and I’m sure everyone will enjoy themselves,” said stage manager Matt Hinojosa. “Our lineup consists of performers from diverse backgrounds that reflect the populations of Queens, the most diverse county in the nation.”
The festival is being funded in part by a New York City Department of Youth and Community Development grant.
“A great time will be had by all,” said festival co-chair Hank Krumholz.
