Fire rips through three Jamaica buildings

Firefighters in South Jamaica battled a two-alarm fire that gutted two buildings and caused heavy damage to a third. The blaze, which started in a vacant structure at 146-42 South Road, quickly spread to an occupied attached building, gutting the top floor. The third building, also occupied, suffered damages to its foundation and contents. Heavy flames sent residents into the street with only the clothes on their backs. No serious injuries were reported and the blaze has been labeled suspicious. Fire Marshals are investigating the cause.
