Chamber picks top ten biz execs under 40

The Queens Chamber of Commerce has selected the top 10 business executives in the borough who are under 40. The 10 include both men and women from various fields.
Joshua Schneps
Co-Publisher Schneps Communications

Joshua Schneps joined his mother Victoria to become co-publisher of Schneps Communications in 2001 after obtaining a finance degree and working as a banker. The company has grown into the largest publisher of community newspapers, magazines and niche publications in Queens. Joshua Schneps focuses on sales and web site development, but is involved in other areas of the company, including editorial content.

Tina Lee
Executive Vice President of World Journal

Tina Lee, a member of the New York Bar, is the Executive Vice President of the largest Chinese-language newspaper in North America, World Journal. The paper is published in major cities across America and in Vancouver and Toronto, and distributed throughout the country. World Journal has received numerous awards and acknowledgements from leaders like President George W. Bush and former President Bill Clinton.

Damon Hemmerdinger
Development Director for The Shops at Atlas Park

Damon Hemmerdinger is a Principal of A&Co., LLC, a boutique real estate development consulting firm, and Development Director for The Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale. Hemmerdinger and his A&Co. team serve as the exclusive leasing agent, design architect, community relations group and financing representative for the Shops at Atlas Park, and serves as its owner’s representative. He and his team provide similar services for other clients.

Executive Vice President of Crystal Window & Door Systems

Steve Chen oversees operations for Crystal Window & Door Systems, with a primary focus on sales and marketing efforts. Chen worked at Crystal Window during summers, and became project manager in 2003. He was then elevated to his current position, marking a transition in leadership from the founding generation of his father, Thomas, to the next generation.

Melva Miller
Director of Business and Workforce Development for Queens B.P. Helen Marshall

Melva Miller advises Queen Borough President Helen Marshall on small businesses in the borough and assists small business owners. Before obtaining her current position in July of 2007, Miller served as the Executive Director of the Sutphin Boulevard Business Improvement District. There, she created and administered programs that served as catalysts for economic revitalization along Sutphin Boulevard in downtown Jamaica.

Stephen P. Levin
President of Webline Designs, Inc.

Stephen P. Levin co-founded and serves as president of Webline Designs, Inc., a web design and development agency based in Long Island City. To date, Webline has worked on well over 450 projects, providing online consulting services including web site design, development, hosting and maintenance. Webline works either pro bono or at significantly reduced cost with many New York City not-for-profit organizations.

Domenique Camacho Moran serves as a partner in the Commercial Litigation Department at Farrell Fritz, P.C. She is a litigator whose practice focuses primarily on employment litigation, which involves cases of discrimination in the workplace. Moran has litigated cases involving wrongful discharge, restrictive covenants, trade secrets and defamation. She regularly prepares and reviews employee handbooks and personnel policies for the firm.

Michael N. Rosenblut
President and CEO of Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care & Rehabilitation

Michael N. Rosenblut heads one of the nation’s preeminent health care and rehabilitation centers for older adults, the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care & Rehabilitation. He oversees the Institute’s sub-acute care, short-term rehabilitation and long-term care programs. Under his leadership, Parker has implemented a variety of progressive clinical, management and environmental initiatives and innovations.

Rebecca Moran
Vice President of Hi-Fashion Beauty Supplies

Rebecca Moran is Vice President of Hi-Fashion Beauty Supplies, a wholesale nail supply distributor based in Long Island City. She is responsible for all of the day-to-day operations of the business, which Moran said she still sees as a small business. Moran’s father, Kyu Young Lee, founded the store nearly 20 years ago, which now serves customers throughout the Tri-State Region.

Lata Singh-Vasconcellos
Chief Marketing and Development Officer for Queens-Long Island Medical Group

Lata Singh-Vasconcellos creates the marketing, outreach and development strategies for the largest physician-owned, multi-specialty medical group in the tri-state area. Queens-Long Island Medical Group has 22 medical offices in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Singh-Vasconcellos’ job is to heighten public perception of the group, and she has worked to inform immigrant and minority communities about their health care access.
