Sunnyside Community Services, Inc. (SCS) Center for Active Older Adults is open six days a week, and offers daily lunches and over 40 activities a month. During the summer, SCS, located at 43-31 39th Street in Sunnyside, serves as a “cooling center” and stays open for extended hours during declared heat emergencies.
Here are some of their July activities - mark the date:
On Monday, July 7, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. they will host a seminar on memory, conducted by representatives of Elder plan.
On Wednesday July 9, there will be music and dancing with Ron Dellapina from 1 until 3 p.m.
On Thursday, July 17 they have a bus trip to Empire City at Yonkers. The bus leaves at 10 a.m. and returns at about 5 p.m. Tickets for individuals over age 60 cost $20, and are available at SCS after July 11.
On Monday July 21 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Dr. Kreiger will do bone density and blood pressure testing.
