Record-setting season ends for St. John’s

The St. John’s University baseball team’s record-setting season came to a close this weekend in the NCAA Baseball Tournament’s Houston Regional when the Red Storm fell to No. 19 Texas, 4-3.
St. John’s, who won a program-best 42 games, claimed their second consecutive Big East regular season championship and qualified for the 64-team double elimination tournament a second consecutive year and for the third time in four seasons. They lost two of their three games there, including one to No. 5 Rice, the site’s host who moved on to the Super Regionals. They did beat Texas in their first game, 2-1.
