Jefferson Dems give honors

The Jefferson Democratic Club of northeast Queens held their annual dinner dance at Verdi’s in Whitestone recently where they honored several outstanding citizens.
Assemblymember Ann Margaret Carrozza and the club’s president, Joe Bechtold presented the honors at the event, on the evening of Thursday, June 26.
Ed Ott, political director of the New York City Central Labor Council got the “Labor Leader of the Year Award” from Carrozza for his extraordinary efforts.
Corporal Kristen A. Bechtold received the “Military Honoree of the Year” award from her proud papa, himself a veteran. Bechtold just completed a four-year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps, where she served with the 1st Marine Air Wing in Iwakuni, Japan.
Bechtold also presented the “President’s Award” to party stalwart James Wrynn, Sr.
Congressmember Gary Ackerman presented a U.S. flag which had flown over the Capitol to club member Lucienne “Mimou” Burnham, for her work with the French Resistance during World War II.
