The Sixth Annual NYC Musical Saw Festival at Trinity Church in Long Island City attracted players from all over the United States and even some from Canada and Germany.
The event was organized by Astoria resident and saw player Natalia Paruz, known as the “Saw Lady.” Nearly 30 saw players participated in the festival, which included an educational component about the instrument, art exhibition, solo performances, a hand bell choir and a group performance referred to as “Chorus of the Saw.” An original musical saw composition by Scott R. Munson was also premiered during the festival.
“Natalia and the festival have encouraged and motivated saw players to continue playing and improve,” said Roger Marchese, a saw player from New Jersey.
