Woman snatched purse at McDonald’s: DA

ELMHURST — A 63-year-old Elmhurst woman was arrested after surveillance cameras allegedly caught her stealing another woman's purse, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Cecilia Lee, of 51-33 Manilla St. in Elmhurst, was arraigned before Queens Criminal Court Judge Charles Lo Presto on grand larceny charges after she allegedly took an unattended purse at a McDonald's chain restaurant on Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst Aug. 26, Brown said.

The purse's owner, a 34-year-old New Jersey woman, had left the bag on a table and, upon returning, found that it had been taken, the DA said. The purse contained $2,000 in cash, multiple credit cards, a check book and the victim's driver's license, the DA said.

Surveillance footage from store cameras led to Lee's arrest Sept. 4, the New York Post reported.

The footage showed Lee swiping the bag and fleeing the scene, the DA said.

Lee, whose bail was set at $1,500, will return to court Sept. 18, the DA said.
