For more than 20 years, October has been National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer issues, especially the importance of early detection.
On Monday October 6, Senator Frank Padavan (fourth from right) and the American-Italian Cancer Foundation hosted two mammography screening events; one outside of each of Padavan’s offices, in Bellerose and Whitestone.
The no-cost screenings took place in a fully contained mobile mammography van. There were no-out-of-pocket expenses and no co-pays for either insured or uninsured women.
