LONG ISLAND CITY — A homeless man pleaded guilty in the January 2007 stabbing death of his girlfriend inside a city Housing Authority complex in Long Island City, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Tuesday.
Warren Johnston, 38, whose last known address was a Manhattan homeless shelter, appeared Monday before Queens Supreme Court Justice Robert Hanophy and pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter.
Hanophy set sentencing for Dec. 15, at which time the judge indicated he would sentence the defendant to 19 years in state prison, Brown said.
According to Brown, Johnson savagely beat his girlfriend, Consuelo Bellamy, 36, and stabbed her in the neck during an argument in an elevator at the Ravenswood Houses at 35−21 21st St. on Jan. 26, 2007.
