School bus kills woman on 8th Street in Astoria

ASTORIA — An Astoria woman was struck and killed by a school bus right outside her home Friday, police said.

Adelina Munoz, 56, was crossing Eighth Street near the intersection of 27th Avenue at 6:29 a.m. when she was hit by the school bus, which was turning right from 27th Avenue, police said.

Munoz was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who stayed at the scene, was issued a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian, police said.
