This year will be Captain Charles McEvoy’s second year in command at the 102nd Precinct, and he said 2008 was a “very successful year,” as there was a reduction in crime.
Even daytime residential burglaries, which he said were a problem in Richmond Hill and Woodhaven, were down 16 percent.
McEvoy credits the good work of the police officers.
“The men and women of the 102nd Precinct worked very hard last year,” he said, noting that to date in 2009, crime is down 30 percent. “We’re off to a very good start. I hope to maintain it all year.”
