Auburndale man choked son with stick: Police

AUBURNDALE — An Auburndale man was arrested last week on assault charges after he allegedly choked his son until he passed out and forced him to kneel on dried rice and beans, police said.

Andrew Laukam, 48, allegedly came up behind his son, whose name was not released, and choked him with a stick Jan. 26 inside their apartment on the 198th Street block of 32nd Avenue, police said.

The son passed out and Laukam allegedly poured a bag of dried rice and beans on the floor and made his son kneel on the food for an hour, police said.

Laukam was arrested on assault charges stemming from the incident Jan. 29, police said.
