OZONE PARK — A man was arrested by police after allegedly leading officers on a chase through southwestern Queens that was started when he was caught urinating next to his car, authorities said.
Officers allegedly came across 46−year−old John Fitzgerald urinating next to his car, which was pulled over at Peconic Street and Centreville Street at around 3:15 a.m. Jan. 8, the Queens district attorney said. According to a criminal complaint filed in Queens Criminal Court, when police confronted Fitzgerald he allegedly jumped in his car and fled the scene.
The complaint states that Fitzgerald was arrested a short time later after running several red lights and driving the wrong direction down a one−way street.
Fitzgerald was charged with public urination and several traffic offenses, the complaint said.
