According to a police source, between January 12 and February 8, there have been 26 burglaries in areas north of the Belt Parkway, from 75th Street to the Van Wyck Expressway.
The source said there have been four incidents in Richmond Hill, five in Ozone Park, two in Howard Beach, and the rest in South Ozone Park.
Though no pattern has been established, there is a video of a purple or maroon four-door, late-model sedan with custom rims said to be connected to some of the burglaries.
Many of the crimes are occurring during the day, said the source, with few happening after 4 p.m. and before 8 a.m.
Despite the rash, the 106th Precinct has had a number of burglary arrests, said the source, who added that burglary teams and detectives “have some good working leads.”
Additional plainclothes officers are also on duty. “They are out there looking,” said the source.
If you notice something or someone suspicious, call 9-1-1 immediately, say police.
