With summer just around the corner, 50 National Grid volunteers helped to clean up the beaches in the Rockaways and shared important energy efficiency tips with neighborhood residents on Friday, May 8.
On hand were Assemblymembers Audrey Pheffer, Michele Titus, and representatives from the Rockaway Development Revitalization Corp. and Rockaway Waterfront Alliance.
Dozens of bags of debris were collected.
“As part of our commitment to both the communities we serve and to helping conserve the environment for future generations, 400 National Grid employees will demonstrate the Power of Action as they volunteer throughout New York and New England on projects aimed at tackling climate change,” said Joe Rende, Vice President Energy Solutions Services, Metro NY at National Grid. “Here in the Rockaways, we have over 50 employees volunteering to clean up the beach.”
National Grid designated that day for Earth Day clean ups in the areas it serves.
