Census managers job application deadline June 30

The job of counting every person in the U.S. for the 2010 Census can sound like a daunting task. But in these economically troubling times, there may be a paying job in the census for you.

The U.S. Census Bureau will pay qualified managers between $22-32 per hour to fill three new offices they are opening in Queens.

But anyone interested better act fast because the deadline for the application is on Tuesday, June 30.

“With today’s economy, we believe many people want this type of job,” said William Harfman, Census Area Manager for Queens.

He said they are looking for people with management and supervisory experience to fill a varied number of one-year positions.

Those positions include local census office managers and assistant managers for field operations, administration, recruiting, quality assurance, and technology.

An applicant must schedule with them soon to take a one-hour supervisory test. If they pass, they will be asked for a resume and to answer criteria questions, geared for the job for which they are applying.

For anyone interested in becoming a field census taker, a non-management position, the openings will be listed later this year for the spring of 2010 positions.
