The largest NFL Flag Football program in Queens is right in Bayside at the DePhillips Athletic Club (DAC), and teams are forming now. With five age-based divisions and a 14-game season ranging from September to November, the program welcomes children ages five through 17.
In addition to the regular season and playoffs, DAC teams compete in various regional, national, and international tournaments. Several teams have competed in, and even won, the U.S. championship at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida. A DAC team has even competed in Germany.
NFL Flag Football is a non-contact sport. Each team has a roster of seven to nine players, and there are five players on the field at any particular time. The NFL supplies all players with official Flag Football jerseys.
“Consistent with the DAC tradition and mission statement, everybody plays at least half of the game,” said Commissioner Steve Wolfin. “It has been our experience that kids who have never played football before find this sport to be a fun and rewarding experience.”
For more information, call Wolfin at 718-746-6469 or visit the DAC web site at www.daconline.net. Coaches and assistant coaches are always welcome.
