Walter Cameron, a director on the board of the Sass Foundation for Medical Research, announced that world renowned immunologist Dr. Ralph Steinman has joined the International Scientific Board of Sass. Dr. Steinman has been awarded the 2009 Albany Medical Center prize for the discovery of dendritic cells, the preeminent component of the immune system that initiates and regulates the body’s response to foreign antigens.
The Sass Foundation is committed to fighting cancer through medical research. The monies they raise goes to several research organizations, such as Einstein Cancer Research, Cornell, Sloan Kettering, etc. They also sponsor scholarships for students to enter into research and operate several Breast Cancer Days open to the public.
