Who’s Backing Whom in ’09

The Jewish Press announced their endorsement of Mike Bloomberg in his effort for re-election as Mayor. Bishop Michael Taylor, Senior Pastor of Center of Hope International, has also expressed his support for Bloomberg. Sinovision, a major Chinese-American television station, has also joined the long list of organizations backing the Mayor for re-election, like the China Press, the tenth newspaper to endorse Bloomberg.

The executive board of District Council 37 of the SEIU has endorsed Jerry Iannece in his effort to take City Council District 19. The District has also expressed their support for Bill Di Blasio who is in the running for New York City Public Advocate along with John Liu for New York City Comptroller.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Joint Council 16 endorsed John Choe for Council District 20.

Heidi Chain, who is running for City Council District 29, was recently endorsed by three NYPD associations: the Captains Endowment Association (CEA), Lieutenants Benevolent Association (LBA) and Sergeants Benevolent Association (SBA).

The New York Hotel and Motel Trades Council, AFL-CIO (HTC) and the UNITE HERE New York State Council announced their endorsements of Assemblymember Mark Weprin in the race for the 23rd Council District.
