No waiting on lines; no applications; hundreds of outlets – motorists now have access to E-ZPass toll tags all over the city.
Motorists can now buy the pre-paid transponders at small retail stores without filling out applications or waiting in line, at any one of the 60 E-ZPass “On-the-Go” retailers in Queens.
The MTA’s E-ZPass “On-the-Go” program allows the busy travelers to purchase tags for just $30 and immediately use them to save 93-cents per trip through the city’s tunnels and over its toll bridges, said Judie Glave, an MTA spokesperson.
“The “On-the-Go” program has been an invaluable tool in attracting new E-ZPass customers,” said MTA Bridges and Tunnels president Susan Kupferman.
Pre-paid E-ZPass toll tags are being sold at 320 small retailers including gas stations, check-cashing establishments, convenience/grocery stores and pharmacies throughout New York City and Long Island. In addition to the time saving feature of the tags, they also provide the user with a 17 percent discount at major crossings.
The tag is accepted at MTA’s seven bridges and two tunnels as well as 22 other agencies in 14 states from Maine to Virginia and from New York City to Chicago.
After purchasing the tag for $30, customers can immediately use up to $20 to pay tolls – the other $10 is a deposit on the tag.
Once the tag has been used for the first time, customers have two days to register it at: www.ezpassny.com or by calling the toll-free number 1-800-333-TOLL.
Additionally, if the tag is then linked to a credit card, the $10 tag deposit also becomes available for toll use. If the account is replenished by check or cash, then $10 remains as a deposit for the tag.
