Phony utility worker stole jewelry: Police

BAYSIDE — Investigators were searching for a suspected utility employee imposter who they say burglarized a person last week.

Around noon Dec. 1, a suspect, described as a white man in his 50s, came to a home on Springfield Boulevard and identified himself as a Water Authority employee, police said.

The man told the homeowner he was going to work in the bathroom, but he allegedly took her jewelry from her bedroom, according to investigators.
