Assemblymember William Scarborough, Honorary Chair of the Million Fathers Club, hosted his First Annual Christmas/Kwanzaa Party and Toy Give Away in conjunction with the merchants of Merrick Boulevard.
The goals of the Million Fathers Club are to promote the involvement of fathers in their children’s lives.
A few of the highlights of the day were a rousing invocation by Reverend Edward Davis of the Presbyterian Church of St. Albans, face painting and crafts by the Parks Department, refreshments and two Santas. There were toys galore for the children and gifts of cashmere scarves were for the fathers.
Scarborough brought together a coalition of contributors eager to create a positive, festive atmosphere promoting family values that focus on fathers and their children.
