Army Specialist Osvaldo Hernandez from Queens went from ex-con to hero soldier, who will achieve his dream of being a member of the NYPD, due to a pardon by Governor David A. Paterson. He will first finish his second tour of duty as a paratrooper in Afghanistan and than be granted permission to join the police if all goes well. Here is a young man who has turned his life around, has served his country, and now will serve his community. In my book, Hernandez is a true role model for our youth.
