In addition to all the other observances around the President’s Day weekend, the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is skipping some garbage and recycling pick-ups.
In observance of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, on Friday, February 12, there will be no curbside garbage, recycling collection or street cleaning in the five boroughs. If your regular curbside garbage pickup is on Friday, put your trash out after 4 p.m. for pickup. If your recycling pickup is on Friday, you will have to wait a week, until Friday, February 19.
On the Presidents’ Day holiday, Monday, February 15, DSNY will not be collecting garbage, recycling or doing street cleaning. In addition, all Sanitation Department administrative offices will be closed on this day.
Residents who usually receive Monday garbage collection should place trash at curbside after 4 p.m. on Monday for pickup. Recycling will not be picked up until the following Monday, February 22.
