Palm opens at JFK

The internationally-famous New York steakhouse The Palm celebrated the grand opening of its 29th location in Queens – at JFK International Airport.

The Palm Bar & Grille is located in the pre-security, public area of Terminal 4 at the bustling international gateway to the city.

Free food and drink, souvenir Palm cookbooks and live music marked the occasion on Friday, March 5.

“Our mission is to elevate travelers’ dining experiences in airports across the nation and our partnership with [JFK] is helping us do just that in New York City, one of the most important gateways to the world,” said Les Cappetta, CEO of SSP America, which operates restaurants at airports.

About 40 guests thoroughly enjoyed filet mignon, lobster and prime ground beef sliders, as well as numerous other treats from the menu, drawn from the original steakhouse, founded on Second Avenue in Manhattan by Pio Bozzi and John Ganzi in 1926.

The guest of honor was Governor David A, Paterson, who said, “I am very honored to be asked to be part of this great opening. I’m so happy that you’ve joined me to see how hard I work,” he quipped.
