After nearly nine years, Beginnings Bleus @ Bayside will be closing, and everything in the store – including the fixtures – is deeply discounted.
“The economic climate definitely had a lot to do with it,” said Manager Dean Andriotis.
Andriotis said that he is unsure as to when exactly the location will be closing, though it will be sometime at the end of April or beginning of May – and that everything is being liquidated.
“It was a big location, and expensive to stock the store,” he said, noting that Beginnings Bleus @ Bayside is a premium denim retailer featuring high-end collections such as Diane Von Furstenberg and Theory.
But, “Since early 2008 we saw a decline in business . . . so did everyone else, [we just] never rebounded.”
Andriotis continued, “It seems as if the economic condition has really taken its toll . . . nobody wants to pay top dollar, and we couldn’t cover our costs, including the size of the store, the location.”
There’s still time to get great merchandise at amazing prices, he noted, since the majority of the store – even the shelving – is 70 percent off.
Beginnings Bleus @ Bayside is located in The Bay Terrace shopping center, upstairs next to the post office, at 212-77 26th Avenue. They are still open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 718-428-3771.
