Citi teaches kids to save

Each year, the American Bankers Association (ABA) launches a national initiative – “Teach Children to Save” – and encourages banks across the nation to visit elementary schools and provide financial education.

At P.S. 11 (Kathryn Phelan School) in Woodside, Citi representatives, and an ABA professional joined forces with Mr. Met and school administrators to teach 350 fifth and sixth graders about “needs and wants” and how to best go about making prudent decisions when it comes to saving money and making wise purchasing choices.

Joining Mr. Met at P.S. 11 were (from left to right) Rei Pérez. community development officer, Citi; Elizabeth Pe?a, assistant principal; Eileen Auld, New York State director for community development, Citi; Michael Perez, area director, north Queens, Citi; Kathryn Kelly, deputy director, ABA and Ted Rufus, assistant principal.
