On April 28, the FDNY dedicated the newly-remodeled Charles Evans Fire Safety Education Building at Fort Totten in honor of the late Evans, whose Foundation donated $1 million to the FDNY Foundation for fire safety education efforts, including the purchase of smoke alarms.
