Memorial Day is not just a three-day weekend or the official start of the summer season. It is the day set aside to honor those who have died in the service of this country.
If you attended the various neighborhood parades in our borough this past weekend, you saw floats to remind us about our Prisoners of War and our Missing in Action.
We solemnly ask you to take a moment now and read the names of the fallen from Queens in the current war against terrorism being waged in Afghanistan and Iraq and to say a prayer for every one of them – they died so that we may continue to live free.
