Bayside continues winning ways

Bayside took on the Elmjack All Stars and shut them out, 6-0, on Tuesday, August 3. Nicholas Perez went five innings, striking out 11, and even assisted on a couple of plays at first base. Closer Savvas Papadopoulos faced four batters in the sixth and struck out three of them, while catcher Dominick Damiano handled the pitching staff well from behind the plate.

On the offensive side of the ball, Bayside scored all the runs they would need in the first inning. Papadopoulos tripled in the first and Aiden Ciarniello followed with a walk. Both base runners were brought home by Damiano’s single. They wouldn’t score again until the last inning when Perez, Sebastian Cabrera, Regan Gogor, Nicholas Gutleber and Wesley Kao all made their way across home plate on hits by Christopher Velaoras and Aristo Pagiatakis.

They continued their winning ways against Ozone-Howard, defeating them, 11-4, on Thursday, August 5. John Callahan started from the mound for Bayside, striking out seven in over three innings of work. Closer Papadopoulos struck out six in relief.

Bayside scattered their offensive explosion throughout the game’s six innings, with contributions coming from every member of the team. They are becoming real juggernauts in the league, sweeping another week of baseball.
