For some, there is no better way to idle away the summer days than putting around on a golf course – and when it’s free, that’s a hole in one.
Throughout August, young people can take advantage of CityParks Foundation’s free golf lessons in parks throughout Queens. The second session of CityParks Golf presented by Rene Lacoste Foundation began August 2 and runs through August 26 at Mario Fajardo Park, Alley Pond Park, Baisley Park and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
With this program, CityParks makes it fun and easy for boys and girls, ages six to 16, to learn to play golf in friendly, encouraging and healthy environment. The free lessons and use of equipment, held in public parks and citywide courses, makes golf accessible to kids of all skill levels.
Through competitive activities, kids get the chance to improve their skills and also develop self-esteem, discipline and sportsmanship. Any kid who excels can ultimately try out for the CityParks Intermediate Program or Junior Golf Academy.
