After two tornadoes and a macroburst tore through Queens, City Councilmember Elizabeth Crowley rounded up a group of volunteers from the local Boy Scout Troop 427, Sacred Heart Girl Scout Troop 4121 and scouts from St. Margaret’s to clean up All Faiths Cemetery at 67-29 Metropolitan Ave in Middle Village as well as Dry Harbor Playground on 80th Street and Myrtle Avenue in Glendale.
“Thank you to all the outstanding young volunteers who donated their Saturday to help clean up our neighborhood,” said Crowley. “The storm that struck on September 16 challenged us as a community and New Yorkers rose to that challenge. I am continuously impressed by how our local residents came together to help out our neighbors and do what they can do bring our community back to normal as quickly as possible.”
“I’d like to thank, on behalf of myself and our board of directors at All Faiths Cemetery, Councilmember Elizabeth Crowley for her assistance during our clean-up process,” said Dan Austin, President and CEO of All Faiths Cemetery. “Not only did she have her staff call us every day, she personally visited our cemetery to review the damage. I am overwhelmed by the fact that she personally visited and the assistance she gave us during our clean-up efforts.”
