With everything from splashes of magenta and cherry paint to patterned or floral tiles, Color Age Interior Design Center in New Hyde Park has been serving the community for the past 36 years as a family-owned, third-generation business.
“We have done right for the community and the community has done right for us,” said Vice President Paul Scarpa.
Located at 390 Hillside Avenue, Color Age offers a vast range of services, such as carpeting, floor covering, painting, window treatments, and wallcoverings to kitchen and bath renovations. The business is a distributor for over 50 major lines of commercial and residential carpet and floor covering, and does not subcontract and will fulfill all services with Color Age employees only.
“We do all phases of internal design,” said Scarpa. “Everything from start to finish, for house or office, from beginning to end.”
Scarpa said the main reason why Color Age is better than competitors is because of the personalized attention and wide selection available for customers.
“Most companies are not going to offer customers as much as we can offer them,” he said. “Most companies specialize in flooring, painting, or wallcovering only, and we do all of that in one place.”
Color Age boasts an 8,000-square-foot showroom, where customers can come in and pick out everything for house or office from window treatments to paint colors, to carpet textures and wallpaper designs. Scarpa added that Color Age has employees specialized in the interior design business, so customers do not have to worry about novice mistakes made by “fly-by-night” companies.
“We’ve been here a long time, so we’ve been through it all, seen it all, and done it all,” Scarpa said of the business, which was incorporated in 1949. “There isn’t anything new to us as far as decorating and the like, so we have no plans on going anywhere.”
Color Age is a division of Flooring America, a national co-op of flooring companies, and is licensed and insured in Suffolk County and all five boroughs. The business is currently running kitchen and bath renovation specials for interested customers. Color Age is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and closes at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
