In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

Councilmembers Leroy Comrie and Ruben Wills gave away over 200 coats to the needy to ring in a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
“People are still struggling during these difficult economic times and some are having to choose between paying the mortgage and buying a good coat for the winter,” said Comrie.
The coats were donated to Comrie’s office this past fall, in partnership with rapper 50 Cent and his G-Unity Foundation.
“In the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy and his call to give back, donating gently used coats especially during this wintry season is a responsibility that should be readily accepted by the whole community,” said Wills. – Jano Tantongco
