Karyn Kovacs Wickers, a graduate of Bayside High School, died of cancer Jan. 25 at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. She was 47.
She had lived in Queens for many years. Wickers was a 1981 graduate of Bayside High School. Previously, she attended Saint Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows, where she was an honor student. She also attended Hunter College and while there was a contributing editor for The Hunter Envoy, the school’s newspaper.
After graduating from high school, she was an executive secretary for the Morgan Stanley Investment Co.
In 1982, she married David Wickers, but they later divorced.
Her funeral was held at Sacred Heart Church Feb. 6 with the Rev. Thomas Brosnan presiding. Sister Ave Clark gave the eulogy.
Wickers is survived by her mother Joan Kovacs, an aunt, an uncle and two half siblings.
